biography

Archizoom Associati
1966 - 1974, Italy

Archizoom Associati was a radical Italian design collective founded in 1966 in Florence by architects Andrea Branzi, Gilberto Corretti, Paolo Deganello, and Massimo Morozzi. Designers Dario and Lucia Bartolini joined the group in 1968.

Active until 1974, Archizoom became a pioneering force in the Radical Design movement, challenging modernist ideals through provocative and unconventional work. Among their most iconic projects are the Superonda sofa (1966), a modular, undulating seating piece for Poltronova that broke with traditional domestic forms; the No-Stop City (1969–1972), a conceptual urban landscape envisioning a limitless, homogeneous environment; and a series of ironic, anti-design furniture pieces that questioned notions of taste, function, and consumer culture.
