biography

Andrea Branzi
1938 - 2023, Italy

Andrea Branzi (1938-2023) was an Italian architect, designer and theorist, recognized as one of the key figures of Radical Design.

Co-founder of the Archizoom Associati group in 1966, he is best known for visionary projects such as “No-Stop City”, a radical reflection on urbanism, in which the city is thought of as an endless, modular and non-hierarchical space.

Branzi has collaborated with major Italian design companies such as Cassina, Zanotta and Alessi, developing pieces that combine technology and human sensitivity. He has also been a prolific theorist, publishing works on the evolution of design and its links with nature, society and technology.

As a professor at Milan Polytechnic and co-founder of the Domus Academy, Branzi has influenced several generations of designers. The recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious Compasso d’Oro, he leaves a profound intellectual and creative legacy in the world of contemporary design.
