Philippe Starck (b. 1949) is a French designer and architect, an emblematic figure of contemporary design, known for democratizing design by making it accessible to as many people as possible.

Trained at the École Nissim de Camondo in Paris, he made a name for himself in the 1980s with projects such as the interior design of the Élysée Palace for François Mitterrand and the Café Costes in Paris. His style is characterized by clean lines, a touch of humor and innovative use of materials.

His most famous creations include the Juicy Salif juicer for Alessi, which has become a design icon, and furniture for Kartell, such as the Louis Ghost chair. Starck has also collaborated with a wide range of brands, from Flos to Axor, and has designed hotels, yachts and residential spaces worldwide.

An advocate of ethical and sustainable design, he has launched affordable, eco-friendly products such as prefabricated houses and functional objects. Today, Philippe Starck is one of the most prolific and influential designers, embodying a democratic and futuristic vision of design.
